Do you remember this layout I did for the little girl’s album that I shared last week? I really like how it turned out and also that I included three photos and journaling about the days in Lisbon without filling a book (BTW I am feeling a handbook with photos + words from this and other previous trips to Portugal).
You probably know this story as good as I know: there is a new amazing collection in your favorite scrapbook store and you have to have it all. You can’t wait to start using it and you sure do but them, the next collection comes, you get it too, and the “old” papers stacked away, with your stash, which keep growing and growing and never get used.
Last month Shimelle started a month long photo challenge at Instagram called Scrapbooking is my Super Power. I loved the idea and joined the fun. Almost everyday I shared something scrapbook to the prompts and also followed other scrapbookers that played along.
She started another challenge in July, this time is about titles and journaling. Be sure to visit Shimelle’s site and read about the idea behind the prompts.
Here is a new layout I created for the first prompt “Oh happy day”.
I pretty sure will not keep scrapping a page everyday for the challenge as I am heading out on vacation this week but I’ll try to make something in advance and keep sharing on my Instagram account.
Hope to see you there!
I got two new (for me) Studio Calico kits last month and could not wait to start creating with them.
I love the Studio Calico Scrapbook Kits and was a subscriber in the past, unfortunately the shipping costs to Germany are quite high so I decided to cancel the subscription and keep an eye on past kits sales. This way I get my beloved SC kits and do not go broke 😉
One of the kits I got last month was the Sonnet Scrapbook Kit, which includes the cutest die cuts ever. I knew I had to scrap some of the photos from our vacations in Italy and use them, and so I did.
For my delight, the layout “Venezia” was choice Layout of the Week at Studio Calico and I could not be more thrilled! Click to see the feature.
Thank you so much for visiting today and have a beautiful week!
So proud to have completed another album for one of my kids.
I’ve been making one album per year per kid. It sounds like a lot and for sure it is but I do also store memorabilia, cards, school works, drawings and everything in between in these year albums, so it is not only a photo album but rather a “one-stop” for everything that happened that year.
My plan is to give the kids these albums when they have a family and become interested in their childhood memories 😉
I make a quick walkthrough my boy’s 2014 album, here is for you to see:
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask 🙂
I really love to use a layout as a start point for another layout. I could keep going like that forever: scrap a page, use it as inspiration for another page, use it as inspiration for another page, and them as inspiration for another page…
For the first layout, I just wanted to use that bear. But, to which theme it would fit? I could not think about anything and, at the same time, I could not stop thinking about the constellation Ursa Major. So I decided to scrap a page about the night that the little girl slept in Kindergarten with her peers. I know. That’s how my brain works sometimes.
I really love how this layout turned out so I decided to scrap another page, inspired by it. Because the background of the first page is so bold, I decided to go with white cardstock for the next page. Instead of a bear die cut, I used a journaling card with a bird and the layered papers became stripes under the photos. I typed the journaling on stripes of paper once more.
As you can see, lots of papers from the first page found their way in this second page as well, they were still on my desk, so why not?
I cleaned my desk and scrapped another page, which turned out very similar to the first one, in fact, it is just the flipped version of the first layout. This layout was very fun and easy to make. I choice the colors, papers and patterns based on the colors in the photo. It is probably a color combo that I would not choice other way.
Is this an idea for you? Do you use your “old” layouts as a start point? Will you give a try?
Thanks for stopping by today!
